This week I will get myself to the bus and head to Toronto, and then to the Metro Convention Centre, for the 10,000-person-strong Parliament of the World's Religions.
It's the first time in Canada for such a great assembly, organized by the non-profit organization in Chicago, a global meeting of religious leaders, theologians, writers, artists and activists held every four or six years somewhere in the world.
The very first PWR was in 1893 in Chicago. Then 100 years elapsed. The Parliaments resumed in 1993, and have been held in Capetown, Barcelona, Salt Lake City, Melbourne and now Toronto.
There will be representatives of 200 religions! For a week, all will forge ahead with workshops, plenary sessions, worship services of every kind, including pagan rites, art exhibits, yoga, concerts, meditation, gardens: all in search of peace, reconciliation, and understanding.
